This gallery is another case of the right place and right time; these shots were taken with my Nikon D700 through the balcony doors at a place I rented back in 2011. They are far from my best shots but still well worth sharing.
Anyhow, these are wild Rainbow Lorikeets, which can be found all over Sydney and where frequent visitors to my balcony and would even tap on the window to get my attention, most likely expecting food, although I was never able actually to get them to take food from my hand.
