River Walk Take 2 - July 2022

First challenge for the day, breakfast, which should not be a problem given the massive number of places to eat, so over the road from the hotel is the Raffels city mall, which from previous experience is known to have a good food court.

Wondering into the mall, and heading down to the sublevel where the food court is located, the first place is a Marks and Spencer yes really, the old favorite from the UK.

Sure, in previous trips to Hong Kong, there has been these stores but this is a first for Singapore. The question is, is this a good thing?

From dim and distant memory, these stores always had a good bakery, and this, thankfully is still the case. So first win for the day, and yes finding these stores here is a good thing.

Now fuelled up for the day, it was back to the river walk, and this time with a fully charged camera battery and the wide angle lens.

First thing to shoot for the day was the same shot as yesterday, this time better framed with more of the old vs new, which is the whole purpose of the shot.

With that out of the way, it's time to head for the river walk, which thankfully was not far from this location.

Before arriving, a friend recommended this walk and said you really need to go to Clarke Quay, so onward.

Wondering down to the river, there are many old colonial buildings which draw the camera, the first was Victoria Memorial Hall. I was planning to go in and check things out, however at the time I was there, it was closed. Maybe when I go back in December I will be able to go in, so expect photos.

Annoying, but oh well, maybe I will make it in for the next trip. Anyway, moving on I spotted the reflection from several large mirror balls, so heading in that direction, I came to the Asian Civilisations Museum, but again, closed.

Moving past the museum, I wandered down to the river and headed toward Clarke Quay

Arriving at Clarke Quay, I found yet again, everything was closed, which was most likely down to it being mid morning and not later in the day. Anyhow from what I could see it was basically full of food outlets and bars, both of which are not much interest to me, however if that is your sort of thing, I would expect it to be a very lively place to be later in the day.

From Clarke Quay, walking further along the river, I came across Riverside Point on the other side of the river, and having been walking around in 30c for quite a while, and running out of water, I headed over, in search of liquid.

Crossing the river, and stocking up on water, I decided to stay on the other side of the river, and head back toward Marina bay.

From talking to various friends and a few hotel staff, I was recommended to check out Boat Quay as a good place to eat. Again not really my thing, with far too many dietary issues to risk it, however was very much on the visit list.

By the time I arrived is was the early afternoon, so just about everything was closed, which for me was not a problem, as I could get photos without doing battle with the crowds I would expect when things where open. Maybe on my next visit, I will revisit and get some photos of the place really buzzing.

Just like Clarke Quay, I would expect this area to be really really lively later in the day, and yes another one I may revisit later in the day on the next trip. If I do revisit, expect more photos.

Carrying on down the river bank toward Marina Bay, moving past the modern high rise, there is the famous Fullerton Hotel, which has quite the presence on the river bank.

After far too much walking, its time to head back to the hotel, more tomorrow.
